Who we are

1666 Amsterdam Guide operates this independent English-language game guide at www.1666amsterdamguide.com. We are not affiliated with Panache Digital Games. This policy covers this website, not the game or the external websites we link to.

For privacy questions or requests, email 1666AmsterdamGuide@163.com. Our Contact page explains what details help us handle a request.

Information we use

You can read our guides without creating an account. We do not operate a checkout, reader account system, or public comment form.

  • Website analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits, referral sources, approximate location, browser and device information, and interactions such as viewing a guide answer, playing the trailer, or opening a source link. Google processes information about your browser and visit when its tag runs. See how Google uses information from partner sites and Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Hosting and traffic measurement. Vercel hosts this website and provides Web Analytics. Hosting may process request details such as your IP address, URL, and browser information to deliver and secure the site. Vercel Web Analytics reports aggregate visits and uses a daily identifier derived from request information, rather than analytics cookies. See Vercel’s Privacy Notice and its Web Analytics privacy information.
  • Messages you send. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you include. We use them to respond, investigate corrections or rights requests, and maintain relevant correspondence.
  • Search and the PC checker. Wiki searches and hardware comparisons run in your browser. We do not send your search terms or exact hardware selections in our custom analytics events. The PC checker can send broad interaction and result categories, such as whether a configuration meets the listed requirements.

We use this information to maintain the site, understand which guides help readers, resolve problems, and respond to requests. Our custom analytics events do not include email addresses or message contents.

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics can use first-party cookies, including cookies whose names begin with _ga, to distinguish browsers and measure visits. Our light or dark appearance setting is stored locally in your browser under 1666-theme so that your preference persists between visits.

You can block or delete cookies and clear local storage through your browser settings. Clearing site storage also resets your appearance preference. See the controls below for Google Analytics and personalized advertising.

Advertising

As of the date above, this website does not display third-party advertising. We plan to use Google AdSense to help fund the guide. The following explains the data use that applies if Google ads are enabled.

Google and other third-party advertising vendors may use cookies to select ads based on visits to this website and other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize advertising using that browsing activity. You can manage personalized advertising in Google My Ad Center and review participating vendors’ choices at YourAdChoices.

Before enabling advertising, we will update this policy to reflect the services in use and provide the applicable consent controls. This policy does not itself record your consent. Read more about Google’s advertising technologies.

External services

The official trailer loads a YouTube player only when you choose to play it. We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced embed domain. Once the player loads, your browser connects to YouTube, which processes playback and device information under Google’s policies.

Links to Steam, Epic Games, YouTube, and other sources take you to independently operated services. Their privacy policies apply when you use them. Screenshots hosted on this website load from our site; opening a source credit takes you to the credited provider.

Our hosting, analytics, and email providers may process information outside your country. Their privacy notices explain their processing locations and safeguards. We may also disclose information when needed to meet a legal obligation or protect the site and its readers.

Your choices and requests

Alongside your browser’s cookie controls, Google offers an Analytics opt-out browser add-on for supported desktop browsers. Advertising choices and analytics controls are separate: changing personalized-ad settings does not automatically disable website analytics.

Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of personal information, or to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You can contact us to make a request. We may ask for proportionate information to verify the request; please do not send passwords, payment details, or identity documents in an initial email.

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them through correspondence. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Retention and updates

We keep correspondence for as long as reasonably needed to handle the matter and any related record-keeping obligations. Analytics and hosting information is retained according to the settings and retention practices of the relevant service. Vercel states that its Web Analytics visitor identifier is reset after 24 hours; this does not mean all aggregate reports or hosting logs are deleted after 24 hours.

We may update this policy as our services change. The date at the top identifies the latest revision. Questions about this policy can be sent through our Contact page.
